About Me

My name is Avery and I am the host of Live WTL. I'm a cradle Catholic and I live in Tennessee. I have a loving sister, very supportive parents, and two cats and a dog. My friends, family, and pets are very important to me. However, the most important thing in life to me is my faith.

Living in the heart of what we call the "Bible belt", I am surrounded by many faith filled and loving people. However, in the town I live in, Catholics are somewhat of a minority. I have lots of great friends who are of various different faiths, and this is one of the reasons that I began to study my faith more seriously. I wanted to know the answers to questions like "why do y'all worship Mary?", or "why does your Bible have more books? What kind of stuff did you add?!" when my friends asked them to me at the lunch table or while we were hanging out (or at one o'clock a.m. at a sleepover for that matter). It was important for me to have answers, but it was more important for me to know WHY these were the answers. That was where the faith part came in. It went from a knowing-a-lot-about-God kind of thing to a KNOWING-God kind of thing. Now of course, this wasn't an overnight kind of thing. It still isn't done. Spirituality is a life long journey. But these questions and others were one way that I really got to know my faith better.

Live WTL wasn't just something I started on a whim. Passion and hours and hours of work don't come lovingly from a whim. No, this was a calling from God. God called me to reach out, and I am so glad that I accepted this call. It has led me to amazing things and gone in directions I never imagined. I appreciate everyone who has helped me and supported me in this journey.

A lot of people have asked me what I want to do with my life. It all depends on one question I am still seeking the answer to: What does God want me to do? He has called me in amazing ways, and I can't wait to see where that goes next. I'd really like to study theology when I am in college, and then become a youth minister when I am old enough. I also would really like to do overseas mission work in Africa or maybe South America. I have considered the possibility of becoming a missionary doctor... It all depends on where His hand guides me next. People have also asked if I am interested in the religious life. Again, I'm trying my best to follow God and see where he is leading me. I don't want to set my mind on a vocation before I really know what He is calling me to. But I am open to the idea (although I could never really see myself as a cloistered nun... But you know, everything is possible through God...) and will continue to pray for guidance in discerning my vocation.
